OPM may also provide assistance in obtaining sources for low-interest loans, grants, business plan development, possible procurement opportunities, and technical or marketing assistance, using available state and federal resources. Grants awarded annually; for the 2010 cycle, the program anticipates awarding up to five grants of $10,000 each to the best entries in the areas of energy conservation or renewable energy. Note: 1. The program is not looking to fund experiments using existing technologies. It is designed to assist in commercializing new technologies. 2. Previous award recipients have used the funds for product development, prototype testing, patent application, business plan development, payroll, product marketing and promotion at trade shows. Applicants must be a Connecticut-based business or individual; must not have more than 30 employees; must be energy-conserving or usingrenewable energy technology; and technology cannot already be commercialized. Previous NET (New Energy Technology) award winners are ineligible for new awards under this program. Winners are announced early to mid May, and grant awards are made in early June.
