State Certifications:

Supplier Diversity Program (formerly called the Set-Aside Program) was established for the purpose of assuring that Connecticut small and minority-owned businesses have an opportunity to bid on a portion of the State’s purchases. Under this program twenty-five (25%) of State funded purchases are set-aside for small businesses. In addition, twenty-five (25%) of that amount is reserved for small businesses which are minority/women owned.

Federal Certifications:

Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program is designed to ensure equal opportunity in transportation contracting markets and to address the effects of discrimination in transportation contracting. The program establishes a flexible 10% national goal for the participation of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, including small firms owned and controlled by women and minorities.

8(a) Business Development Certification - the 8(a) program is a business development program created to help small disadvantaged businesses compete in the American economy and access the federal procurement market.
Note: 8(a) firms automatically qualify for Small Disadvantaged Business certification.

HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program provides federal contracting opportunities for qualified small businesses located in distressed areas. The program fosters the growth of these federal contractors as viable businesses, for the long term, helps to empower communities, create jobs and attract private investment.

Women Presidents' Educational Organization (WPEO) provides full service certification for women-owned businesses and programs for women business owners to connect with procurement professionals. WPEO is a partner organization of Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), your business can apply for a certification that is accepted by over 800 major corporations, non-profit organizations, as well as many local, state, and federal government agencies. WBENC certification is an important marketing tool for expanding your company's visibility among and access to decision makers in supplier diversity and procurement offices. Many corporations require that you be WBENC certified before providing access to their supplier diversity programs.
